Barry's is how I remember pubs being back in the day, friendly with an almost special club feeling you intend to go for one and at 3am find yourself still here, talking, drinking, eating, dancing, this place is soooo much fun and Barry himself is the loveliest / coolest guy you will come across.
I like rum and this is a bar that appreciates that in a person, also the food is cooked and prepared by Barry himself and has to be the best west indian food I have found in Sheffield, if anyone can top to I would be shocked and amazed. I doubt anyone can.
my cousin had come to visit from the midlands and we had been around a few of the bars in town meeting other friends and creating quite a group when we decided to head to Barry's, it always a really relaxed place with good company and music unlike some of the city bars that can get a bit full on after a certain time on a weekend. We arrived about 9pm and everyone decided they were hungry, although the food service here had stopped hours ago Barry said if we didn't mind having a bit of everything he might have enough to go around, we thanked him for anything he could come up with. 30 minutes later we had 2 different types of curry, rice, breads and vegetables, i don't know how he does it but there was plenty to go round and the most amazing quality and taste you can imagine.
We ate danced and drank till the early hours with Barry and met new friends also, the people here are great, the atmosphere s great and Barry is a legend who likes to look after all his customers like thy were his children.
Drinks are normal pub prices and on the night he charged us a fiver a head for the food which all of us would have happily tripled.
In the summer there is BBQ also you will never go hungry with Barry around.
My advice get your mates together and get yourself down there dinner drinking and dancing for a great night out at a reasonable price you can't go wrong .
