The Darlingtons ready for a big summer The Darlingtons ready for a big summer

Sheffield-based band The Darlingtons release their new single and video 'Rotations' ahead of a big summer for the band.

Originally from the furthest reaches of Somerset but now relocated permanently to Sheffield, The Darlingtons are making waves on the music scene.

The group - a four-piece alternative band with a dark but energetic sound - have made a name across the country and abroad with polished music and electrifying live sets but have chosen the Steel City to make their base.

"It was a big move for us to relocate from Taunton to Sheffield but we needed to make the move to be closer to our management team as well as opening us up to more opportunity" says drummer Chris Holmes.

"Sheffield has always been our second home with a big following here already so it feels totally natural to us."

Just back from France, The Darlingtons are heading off back out to Europe over the coming weeks as well as a string of new UK dates and festival appearances ready to push the band onto bigger things.

Their massively energetic live shows most definitely make the band one to watch, but with a huge workload ahead of the group Sheffielders may have to be content with the video for new single 'Rotations' until this summer's Tramlines festival.

"This year is going to be their biggest yet," says band manager Neil Hargreaves of Sheffield based Aggressive Management.

"We are going to work the lads hard but it will be worth it as they have some amazing opportunities coming up."

The Darlingtons will be headlining a big summer festival as well as playing a big Tramlines stage which are both still to be announced.

Neil told We Love Sheffield: "We are going to announce those shortly, but we have more pressing matters at the moment which is getting the band out to Belgium, France and round the country for big festival dates."

Additionally, The Darlingtons have been asked to play two shows at Brighton’s The Great Escape Festival. Both have been specifically set up for the music industry to see the band.

"We have some big industry people down for those shows and there’s a lot of interest in the band currently," says Neil.

"The group's return to Sheffield this summer it will be on the back of UK and European tour dates, a brand new single, a new video and we’re also confident of radio play across the country for the next couple of singles too!"

Gig-goers may have seen The Darlingtons impress in Sheffield recently as they played a superb show alongside their friends The Sherlocks (another great band seemingly destined for bigger things).

"That show was just outstanding," says Neil, "The talent on that stage that night was just incredible. A great night!"

Hopefully The Darlingtons will be celebrating more success when they play Sheffield this summer.
