Sheffield’s fans of cult television, comic books and games will be getting a treat this August as Showmasters get set to hold the city’s first major convention.
From the same people who arrange similar shows at other venues including London, Cardiff and Newcastle, The Sheffield Film and Comic-Con will take place at the Motorpoint Arena over the weekend of 30-31 August.
A number of stars have already been confirmed for the event, including the Seventh Doctor Who, Sylvester McCoy, his 'Ace' assistant Sophie Aldred and Bonnie Langford, who played Mel (companion to McCoy's Doctor as well as Colin Baker's Sixth Doctor).
UPDATE 1/7/14: Sheffield Film and Comic-Con have confirmed that iconic vehicles will be at the convention, including The A-Team van and KITT from Knight Rider.
UPDATE 12/8/14: Game of Thrones will also be represented at Sheffield Film and Comic Con, with guests including Miltos Yerolemou and Pixie Le Knot!

Other Doctor Who universe faces are amongst the guests, such as Terry Molloy (Davros in the classic series), Louise Jameson (Leela, companion to Tom Baker’s fourth Doctor), and Torchwood’s Eve Miles (Gwen Cooper).
They will be joined by John Leeson and Mat Irvine, the voice and the creator of Doctor Who’s popular robot dog K-9, respectively.
Fans of George Lucas’s legendary sci-fi series will get the chance to meet stars from the original trilogy, including Boba Fett himself: Jeremy Bulloch. Paul Blake (Greedo, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope) and Ian Liston (Wes Janson, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back), will also be at the event.
A number of the celebrity guests will be talking part in ‘guest talks’ throughout the weekend.
Attendants will be able to obtain autographs and take part in photoshoots with the stars, costing approximately £10-£25 each depending on the guest.
Comics and graphic novels
Readers of comic books and graphic novels will have plenty to see and do with a collector’s zone, master classes for budding writers/artists and the chance to ‘meet the pros’.
